Why japanese people love twitter

Japanese people explains in a survey why they like to use twitter but now that is called X maybe some answers don't apply anymore.

For first time ever, japanese people explains why they find micro-blogging Twitter service interesting. In a recent survey, japanese users dictates why they love twitter, even the 140 characters limit. Here are the most common answers:

  1. You can see celebrities unmasked, in a way never seen on their blogs
  2. There’s a lot of information circulating on Twitter you can’t find elsewhere
  3. There may be lots of Twittering users in the same neighbourhood
  4. You don’t have to worry about “writing” like you do on an SNS or blog
  5. You may receive a reply from a celebrity
  6. People you don’t even know will offer advice on problems you might have
  7. Your followers may share new ideas which never occurred to you
  8. Thoughtless tweets can cause huge arguments with lots of people involved
  9. Following or being followed is an interesting system with diverse uses
  10. The flow of information is much faster than with news sites or TV
There is even a Twitter-chan around the web.

Now back to the answers, Im agree with points 5, 6, 7 and 10. After my previous post about K Dunts doing cosplays, someone claiming to be her, or with the same alias, followed me on Twitter. Kind of curious. Well I doubt she was the real actress, but anyway.

Also the flow of info and the way it moves in the cloud is much more faster. Sometimes I tweet some questions or advice about IT, games or stuff and I can get replies from a lot of people willing to help, even strangers, (but also some robots).

Twitter is a great way to share and to meed people and is as good as blogging and facebook. Well, Im not yet a fb user. Do you think I should?

Are you a twitter user? Feel free to follow me or add me.

Japanese (and some other Asian languages) generally fits more into the character limit than English, especially with kanji. It's a seemingly simple difference that rather radically changes the service, and I think broadens its appeal. No wonder it's popular in Japan.

I've read that Ameblo was not happy with how Japanese users were starting to use Twitter so they started their own 140 character micro-blogging service, but with cute emoticons!
Still, I think Twitter is gaining popularity with Japanese users. I consider that a good thing since I can now more easily interact with Japanese folks, practice my Japanese, and help them practice English ^^

Twitter is good because it lets people jump right into a micro form of blogging without that much hassle. Good stuff.

I like Twitter sometimes, for various reasons, but other times I get so bored with it I wonder why I use it in the first place.

Pretty much the same reason people in other places love Twitter.
Personally, I like Twitter because it makes me tweet out all my boring thoughts.
