Is cosplay a girlie thing?

Im starting this time the post with a regular question: Is the art of cosplaying a Girls thing? Im wondering mostly after seeing the front cover design from Otacool 2. You can see a lot of otaku girls doing cosplay, but where are the boys?

I do realize anime girls are cutter so cosplaying them is more fun than anime boys, and taking pictures has double fun but you can see more female cosplays in the Otacool 2 submission pictures pool than male cosplays.

Only two boys in the front cover?

Are boys less attracted to do cosplay than girls? Or is the anime shows who depicts less boy characters in the plot?

Well,In the meantime, lets continue enjoy cosplaying girls and anime events. ^^
In case you were wondering who is the girl in the first picture, you can check out her submission in here.

I think just as many boys cosplay as girls. It's just that the girls look much better :)

Don't take the Otacool cover as any indication of the cosplay community. The only reason here are more girls on the cover is because Kotobukiya thinks it's more marketable that way (and sadly, they're probably right). There are plenty of male cosplayers out there.

why do girls often like to shop? why are males expected to be masculine? why do contemporary Eastern and Western styles of dress greatly differ now?

and finally, why do Japanese in Japan, male and female, like reading manga, regardless of age?

there's no direct correlation, but i third the above. it's probably because girls look better, though i can't speculate on something i barely know myself

I don't think it's a girlie thing. I think it's just that female cosplayers get more attention... Sort of like how female models are always more famous than male models.
